March 28th
The morning started misty with a soundtrack of larks. The coastline is much more rugged now with cliffs and cwms, pronounced coombes, small valleys. The sheep nibbled grass made for easy walking. When I reached Ogmore-on-sea it was time to take a four mile diversion to get to a bridge to cross the river there.…

March 27th
Leaving Barry after having a breakfast in Wetherspoons and made my way to Rhoose point the furthest south point of Wales. There was a big stone monument there which two ten year olds were following the age old human instinct to carve their names on it.The coast here is ‘geologically interesting’ in other words hilly.By…

Day 6 report
A 20 mile day albeit the last two in the dark round Barry Island. There was no accommodation in Barry on a Saturday night, not totally unexpected so ended up camping on what turned out to be a major dog walking route the following morning. The coast is getting more scenic an inevitably more hilly.…

The cyclists were fast and did not…

Report from day 1, 15.7 miles
After a sendoff from the Tudor Arms, Dave Stayte and I set off down the Severn way. One slight difficulty with this plan was that Dave is 25 years younger than me and was carrying about a quarter of the kit weight. This we moved markedly faster than I normally would, nearly 2.8 miles an…

Less than 24 hours.
Well less than 24 hours to go before I start my walk from the Tudor Arms , Slimbridge.Starting a days walking with a cooked breakfast on board is always a good thing. Then a mere 4000 miles walking before I can eat there again.I just want to get going!
