First, but not I suspect last, wet day of the walk. The walk was round the estuary to Burry Port and was so nice and flat.
The Llanelli wetlands were not looking very promising , the rain was coming down and a high sea wall blocked the view.
Then there was a loud burst of bird song nearby . This was a Cetti’s warbler a shy secretive bird that skulks in the bushes periodically singing.
Except this one wasn’t. He was on a branch out in the open without a care in the world. This was the first Cetti’s warbler I had ever seen. I’ve heard them dozens of times but they’d always hid.
This cheered me up and coffee and a pasty in WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre cheered me up more.
Then it was on to Burry Port and a day off 😀😀

That’s a nice Cetti’s sighting Steve. Good to read that you called in to the WWT centre at Llanelli. Many happy memories for me.
